My name is 'Violet'" Charlie Brown clears his throat.<BR><BR> Violet touches Snoopy's nose and says,"You're real cute..." Charlie Brown clears his throat louder.<BR><BR> As Snoopy sits gazing after Violet lovingly, Charlie Brown exclaims,"Well, why didn't you introduce me?!"<BR><BR>

Schultz’ characterization of Violet changed over time, but her special relationship with Snoopy endured.

A precedent that Schulz set with this strip was that each new female character he introduced got her own unique dress. This endured until the debut of Peppermint Patty, who got a vertical striped button up shirt and black shorts instead.
