Snoopy and Peppermint Patty bounce out of control on the bed. Marcie stands next to the bed and says, "Sir, I think some burglars have stolen all your furniture . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty bounces and shouts, "I know they have, Marcie! Help me get off this waterbed!!!"<BR><BR> Marcie bounces on the waterbed with Snoopy and Peppermint Patty. She shouts, "Stop bouncing, sir! I can't help you!!"<BR><BR> Snoopy hangs over the edge of the bed and thinks, "Ah! Land at last!" Peppermint Patty and Marcie continue to bounce on the bed. Peppermint Patty shouts, "Stop calling me, sir!"<BR><BR>

All of these strips of Peppermint Patty’s waterbed were used for the one early scene in “Race for your life, Charlie Brown,” two and a half years later (August 1977). The scene where the entire gang is getting in their cabins before the day of the race and much to Peppermint Patty’s good luck, she gets a waterbed-“They really know how to treat a leader right,” she says. Then when Snoopy comes in to kiss them all good night, and no sooner does he land on PP’s bed-yup, you guessed it-what happens next was modeled on the strips here; she even tells Marcie,”Help me get off this waterbed!” (like here.) That plus when she tells Marcie,(in RFYLCB), “If I ever get off this waterbed, I’ll KICK him, not KISS him!” you can tell was modeled on what she says in the previous day’s strip:”If I ever get off this waterbed, I’m going to bite the watchdog!”
