Cool. She found a list of most commonly used words. This is similar to that time I went to this city where almost all the housing was 2 bed 1 bath condos and I looked up the average rent rate… then I walked up to one guy and told him I knew he lived in a 2 bed 1 bath apartment north of the river (the whole city was north of the river) and that he had a small dog (there were short dog hairs on his trousers). His reaction was interesting,

“To, a, an, oh, but, and the!!” Sure,Lucy-if you think anyone is going to get the impression that you’re a good listener, if you claim that THAT is all you have ever heard Linus say, you are SORELY MISTAKEN!!! We all use all of those words, in everyday speech! Yes, I know that was supposed to be the punch line of this strip—but still, just goes to show you what the mentality of someone in REAL LIFE would be, if that’s all they ever hear, as well as fragments of sentences merely going in one ear and out the other, as demonstrated in the opening panel, as typical of Lucy, when it comes to ACTUALLY listening, and getting the GIST of what someone is saying to her.

There’s no Oxford comma here, so we can’t tell if Lucy actually heard “and,” or if it was just tying together “but” and “the.” Opinions?
