Wow, I’m surprised there’s no one going, “So politically incorrect! (Gasp!)” Yes, technically, the term “gyp” is at its root insulting to those of Romany descent.But we kids of the 70s and 80s grew up using it completely innocently, without any idea of its roots. It just meant “cheat,” and was in no way meant as a slur.Now look into “Eeny Meeny Miney Moe.” The word wasn’t originally “tiger.” Ask a Baby Boomer.
