A non-politically correct Christmas comic strip. I miss Schulz.

No, it wasn’t, nor was that the point he was making. Maybe you and some of these others should just let the man express an opinion without demonizing him for it just because you disagree with him.

Agreed. Children wouldn’t even know what the Bible is if the atheists had their way. As it is they can only pray in school if they do it secretly, and yet atheists can spout their beliefs whenever they like.

I miss the REALLY good old days in 1790 when people knew that the Unted States was intended to be secular country with freedom and liberty for all, rather than a Christian Theocracy as so many seemingly believe. To quote the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797, signed UNANIMOUSLY: “The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”

@timber_wolf_789 (just to pick one): No, atheists believe it’s the PARENT’S responsibility to instill whatever religious beliefs they believe, not the government’s. The stunning question is, why is this not good enough for you? And children can pray all they want in school — personally. You can’t have school-led prayer — exactly the way it morally should be.

Nowadays, you would be suspended for trying to hold a christmas play. And the school administrator/principal/teacher would all be fired. What have we become?

Strictly speaking (and frankly this is rather pedantic) it is that number of days until the date chosen by the early church fathers as the time to commemorate Jesus’s birth. There are enough discrepancies in the Gospels to indicate that the birth couldn’t have occurred in December, and that the date was selected as a way to gain converts amongst those pagans who commemorated the Winter Solstice. After all, most other Christian commemorations aren’t fixed but are dependent on astronomical calculation (for example Easter).

    Not that it really matters.

The reason the ACLU is so powerful is they hide and don’t use the real meaning behind the letters. They are actually theANTI CHRISTIAN LAWYERS UNION pretending to represent civil liberty.

I find it strange that so many “Christians” get upset with me when I tell them the truth about “Christmas”. They think I’m anti-christian, or atheist. A real christian is not afraid of truth. If Christmas and/or Easter defines your relationship to God, you need to redefine it.

I attend church regularly (not that that means anything in or of itself) and even hold an ordination.

Sorry, I assumed that readers would associate my comment with the others here. There is nothing biblical about any of our Christmas traditions. Nearly every one of them is thinly disguised paganism. But all that just obscures the fact that the whole concept of Christmas is false. If observing His birth was important we would have been given the date and instructions as to how to observe it. “Reason for the season”? What season? His birth? Hardly.

There are, in fact, way to many lies to address here.

And don’t get me started on “Easter”.

Actually, the accounting doesn’t make entirely clear what was in their minds. I believe they intended to worship the true God. I know that isn’t what is generally taught, but look closely at it. It really make more sense in that light. But, either way, it is not up to us to decide what honors God. God clearly does not want His people involved with pagan traditions. Saying they are not idols does not make it so.

I should have added that they (Israel) borrowed pagan traditions in an attempt to honor God. That is exactly the same thing people do with: Christmas trees, Easter eggs, gift giving, and many other of the traditions being passed off as Christian. Put all the lipstick you like on it, it’s still a pig.

I did not say celebrating His birth and resurrection are pagan. It is the traditional ways in which people celebrate it that I take issue. What is biblical about gift giving? Why has it become the thing to do? Nothing wrong with giving things to people you love, but it has nothing to do with His advent or resurrection.

And this about how it is celebrated is all much ado about nothing. anyway. “Christmas” is built on a foundation of lies. I’ll celebrate His advent every day of my life.
