This is why i always laugh when people tell me adversity builds character.

Actually, Lucy, the purpose of adversity isn’t to build character so much as it is to reveal it. How we handle adversity teaches us about ourselves. Or, as a wise man once put it, Life is an unorthodox teacher; she gives the test first and the lesson afterwards.
