Atlas carries the heavens so that they don’t fall on the Earth, not the Earth itself. Also, there are no permanent human inhabitants in Antarctica, and scientists probably wouldn’t dress that oddly.
Yes, but it has to at least be closely related to true facts, it can’t have characters that have existed for centuries and change qualities about them.
