I guess Rat hurt many more people than just Pig, so there were more people than the number of figs

I’m glad he used the comma correctly. “Eat, my people” could easily be mistaken as, “Eat my people” and this comic may have taken an ugly turn.

Thus sayeth the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will … make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. Jeremiah 29:17-18

The case of the missing comma took another ugly turn when I heard my grandson say, “Time to eat Grandpa”.

Because Pastis is an evil genius, Number Three!
Boy oh boy, there’s going to be an epic out-gassing soon…but apparently Rat doesn’t give a fig. No wait – maybe he hasn’t fig-ured that out yet.

Okay, I’m not sure how to phrase all this, at least not in a way that wouldn’t be inappropriate, but I’m beginning to get an inkling that there’s more here than meets the eye. First, I didn’t know the song “Ready on the Firing Line.” So I didn’t get your comment. But then, phyllis bear’s comment made me give it a second look. (And you call me a bad girl?! Unless I’m much mistaken in the implications of those lyrics?) And now, looking at the cartoon in that vein, I find that Stephan depicting their mouths as vertical instead of horizontal, is rather remarkable. This gives Rat’s final exhortation to “Eat, my people” a whole new slant. You can not dissect comedy without effectively killing it, so I apologise for doing just that. I must be kind of slow, because it just now has dawned on me that Stephan has slipped another one past the censors.
