To where would President run away from home? I’d say to an Indian reservation. Then again, which one? Navajo, Iroquois, Clallam, Cherokee, Chehalis, etc.
Social programs. Institute some social programs that claim to be alleviating the effects of poverty while you are increasing poverty. They’ll never know. Use plastic debit cards instead of bread lines and the problem gets invisible. As long as they think that national debt all falls on the 1%, they won’t care if you double it.
But hey, them “tax cuts” will pay for themselves. And cutting that deduction for teachers buying school supplies (why do they need to do that anyway?) will knock the deficit down in no time.
It is not the debt per se that is a problem. What matters is the purpose of the debt. Debt incurred to pay operating expenses is a recipe for disaster. Debt incurred for capital investment is a requirement for success.
No one’s going to point out that the problem is the existence of the privately owned Federal Reserve? That prints the funny money for the government and charges it interest?
I’ve been waiting to see if the Trump might move to eliminate it, just like JFK did…which unfortunately got him killed.
Now that’s about the smartest thing rat ever said: eliminating The National Debt. Something we been advocating for the longest. And the easiest way is just by wiping the slate clean and starting over. And doing it right this time.
No, Rat. You’re personally in charge of one branch of the government of a country that keeps electing people who make your job bigger than it has any right to be.
This has been a problem for a very long time and both parties are at fault for letting the debt get as large as it has. I would compare Congress to drunken sailors in terms of spending, except that it’s an insult to the drunken sailors.
Avoiding the real life political comments. Seriously, what’s the point of getting into that here?
But I’ve wondered about the stereotype of the hobo with his “bindle” on a stick. Doesn’t seem very practical, the way it’s usually shown, although the stick could certain come in handy as a hiking staff if you carry the bindle some other way.
Don’t know, but perhaps this picture shows a more realistic real life version of it.
!. Default. That would instantly collapse the world’s economy.
2. Eliminate ALL social welfare programs. That would inspire a leftist-led armed revolution.
3. Cut military spending drastically. That would get the country rapidly conquered by Russia and/or China, North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, etc. Leftists would rejoice, rightists would be exterminated; then leftists would be decimated: all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
4. “Kick the can down the road.” Leave the problem for your successors. Repeat.
5. Stick your head in the sand and pretend there is no problem. Hope no one notices or cares much.
Naw. To make it better, we can stop spending so much. Like sending money to countries that hate us. And giving money to people who can work, but don’t.

You can make it better by giving tax cuts to those that don’t need them that don’t pay for themselves.

That’s twenty trillion and change.

No. The people are personally in charge. You, Mr. President, go away after a few years unharmed.

Pretty sure no one President is responsible for running up that debt, but look at how much it increased under the previous administration.

You wanna cut the $20 trillion National Debt?
You could:

I might’ve just written it in exponential form, “2 × 10^13”, and called it a day. It’s still the same number, just more easily fit on a comics page.
