Yams are also from Latin America, Oceania, New Guinea, and your grandmother’s legs. Oh, wait, those are gams. Perhaps that’s why gams is short for “Gamma”. As in ” I wuv my Gamma.”

How do you tell the difference (by looks and/or feel) between a yam and a sweet potato?

Do I presume correctly that both are now grown in the U.S.?

Also, what’s the difference in taste?
