Yeah yeah it’s bacon:

Beggin’ Strips Original Bacon Flavor

Ground wheat, corn gluten meal, wheat flour, ground yellow corn, water, sugar, glycerin, meat, hydrogenated starch hydrolysate,soybean meal, bacon fat preserved with BHA, salt, sorbic acid (a preservative), artificial smoke flavor, calcium propionate (a preservative), glyceryl monostearate, phosphoric acid, choline chloride, added color (red 40, blue 1, yellow 5, yellow 6).

Mmmmmm…

Note that ingredients are in order of preponderance…. it does contain a bit of bacon fat way down on the list…. and something called “meat.”It does NOT say “beef” or “pork,” though it could be, i suppose… but whatever animal it comes from, there’s less of it than sugar or glycerin.

Eggs and snausages…hmm. Excuse me while I prepare my wife’s Mother’s Day breakfast.

Pet food has less chemicals then human food. Pet food is safer for human consumption.

Does anyone ever use Arcamax. A lot of these strips including this one is there and one can comment if signed in. I have tried but cannot sign in.I will pass on eggs and sausage or bacon. No fatty stuff for me.My Mother’s Day has started very grand.

The dog’s going to get mad. Haven’t eated beggin strips, but Purina Beneful is good, comes in five flavors, and has a nice crunch; the soy greenies are the best. woof.

Please, PLEASE do not believe that or eat it!

Nitrates are not healthy…. but this pet “bacon” contains BHA, which is worse.There are other things in that list that say “preservative” as well…some not too bad… but they are allowed in much higher percentages than in human food.That “meat” is not only unnamed, it isn’t inspected, nor does it have to meet the federal or state requirements for sanitation, insect control, safe storage or sourcing that are applicable to human food. If you ever smelled the rotting beef at a dog food factory you would NEVER want to eat it….Or the grain, fats, and other ingredients considered still suitable for dog food if they get too contaminated for human consumption…and that includes most of the so-called “premium” brands!A few manufacturers produce most of it…. no matter what it says on the label.Why do you think the melamine scare a few years ago was only in pet food?Cos only pet food was sourcing protein additives like that wheat gluten from China that was discovered to be adulterated.And you might think something is vegetarian that contains rodent droppings!None of this stuff will (probably) kill your dog or cat…. some of our aversion is purely human squeamishness.

But some additives take 20 years to sicken or kill you, and as a vet friend said, it’s allowed ONLY because a dog or cat won’t live long enough to be harmed. You will!

PLEASE DON’T EAT PET FOOD!!

Reminds me of when I was young. We were desperate for something sweet/junkfood we found the “Doggie Donuts” box and ate them. LOL

I prefer to eat “Skippy” and “Milkbones”..

My Dad made a snack out of some “sandwich meat” he found in the back of the fridge — our cat was NOT impressed!
