What cracks me up is when a person presses that button, and then presses it again because the light’s not changing fast enough to suit them.

The buttons NEVER work!!! (At least in New York)

Mkahn, maybe it’s wad of gum that you’re pushing there in New York.

It’s a fact… Those buttons don’t work. They’re there just to make you think they work… and the gum belongs on the street for Opal th step on.

In most cities around the world that button is disconnected. The walk light comes on automatically.

I’ve seen an elevator button more than once even when the light was already on!! Is that going to make the elevator get to you faster??

The buttons don’t work in Norfolk, Va, either. City policy.Reason? No lawsuits if they never said it was safe for you to step out in front of a speeding car. The “ringer” is pedestrians in a crosswalk have the right of way, regardless of what the signal lights indicating. Screwball town, here….

There are also “pedestrian crossings” (signified by a flashing green light here in BC.) The light only changes when a pedestrian pushes the button.

The buttons are fake. They are put there as pacifiers.
