The main ‘thing’ is to commune with God. While the Bible teaches that we should seek others of like ideal, it is not mandatory since the main idea is a relationship with Him !
Since God (or whatever you want to call him/her) is everywhere, maybe all we have to do is know that and be able to keep in touch anytime.anywhere. One good time for me, is pausing while tending my garden. I just can then sit still and let it all soak in: the enormity and the specificity!
The purpose of church is fellowship with the saints and fellowship with God (Mat 18:20). If you don’t desire that now, why would you want to go to heaven where you will experience that for all time?
Unfortunately, God will respect your desire for separation from Him and His people.
I feel closer to God when I am walking in a forest or along a river with my dog and my sisters. He hears you from anywhere you speak to him. A baseball player they called Billy Sunday said “going to church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than going into a garage makes you an automobile.” Don’t know if that’s verbatim but it works for me! Peace unto you all!

That’s what I do, go for a walk along the river, listen to the occasional ducks and geese and the breeze in the trees. It does wonders.

the purpose of going to church SHOULD be to learn more , about our creator…sadly, the churches don’t do that.

Perhaps the best way to be close to God is to be close to nature!

Some people feel closer to God when they are in the woods ‘cause the trees don’t know what they are really like!

Not all pluggers feel guilty because not all believe in god. Enjoy nature and enjoy life, and quit feeling guilty. Peace!

We invent gods as and when we think we need them.

Are you aware that song “In a Garden” is based on a portion of “The Gospel according to St. John?”
