The good news is that it’s winter and the frozen food won’t melt as quickly. She doesn’t look dressed enough for below-freezing weather. .Still, she needs to figure out whether it’s faster to call her hubby or AAA.
The wifey did that twice. After the first episode, I got a spare car and house key, put it in one of those magnetic boxes, and attached it under the rear bumper for her. By the time the second episode occurred, she had forgotten where the box was stuck. After I told her where it was (via phone call), I later found the little box (and keys) in her kitchen junk drawer.Heavy, exasperating SIGH……
I tried that once and the box rusted through and the key fell out before I needed it again !! ! ! ! After that I always carried a spare car key and a spare house key in my wallet .
My brother used to lock his keys in my dad’s 76 Ford Courier Pick up all the time. My dad finally made him put a spare key in his wallet. Then he would lock the keys and the wallet in the truck. I started walking from my junior high to the high school parking lot where my brother was everyday since I got out earlier and liberating his keys daily. When he would get out of class the truck would be relocked and again he wouldn’t have his keys. I would tell him, “I’ll give you the keys if you give me a ride home.” He hated it but he did it. I never did tell him his friend always left a side window unlocked.
My husband did that. We were on a trip and when he put our bags in the trunk he also put my purse in there that had my keys. He had also laid down his set of keys in the trunk while he was putting the bags in there. So, when he closed the trunk lid he locked in both sets of keys. And, of course it had to be on a Sunday morning in a small town. Try to find a locksmith then.
1) I leave my 78 Buick unlocked & it has a power trunk release. 2) A valet key starts but doesn’t open the trunk. 3) Any modern day auto locksmith has the capability to program most any “chipped” key. Burn rubber!!! Gas is cheap today!!!
I frequently locked myself out when I was working. One locksmith made me a second set of keys. When the same guy arrived the next time I was locked out, he reminded me.“Where is the second set I made you?”“In the car,” I said. “One set is in the ignition. The other is on the seat.”But the last time I locked my self out (company van) was a true adventure. It was during a thunder storm and I was up an alley in one of the seedier sections of DC.Locked the keys AND my cellphone in the van.Had to use the phone in my customer’s apartment. They were in the process of moving. Roaches were literally falling off the walls and ceilings on us, and the couple’s 2 pit bull puppies never stopped barking the entire time I was there. The local locksmith never showed up. (claimed he did, but he was probably going to NE instead of SE.)After trying to break the van window, (the brick bounced off!)We finally opened the vehicle by fashioning a wedge to shove between the door and roof and used the customer’s fishing rod to depress the power lock button. After that, I never left for work without a second set of keys in my pocket.
My ’08 Prius has developed a talent for locking itself. Sunday it even managed to lock me in (heard the solenoid) without locking my wife out (normally it locks all doors).

That’s nothing. I closed my trunk on my little finger once, and had to unlock it to free my hand. That was way more dumb!
