Uncle Ernie’s is in St. Andrews, Florida . . . and is a terrific restaurant overlooking St. Andrew’s Bay. Great seafood, including wonderful fried grouper throat sandwiches and the best key lime pie in the world, too! I did take some liberties here . . . the Shrimp Boat Restaurant is still open and is actually a large place. Skipper’s Barber Shop likewise is still around, but actually quite a ways up Beck Avenue. I also should’ve mentioned Hunt’s Oyster Bar right up the street . . . when I’m in town I try to get by there with my cousin and eat a dozen or two Apalachicola Bay raw oysters! I did decide against mentioning the recently closed topless bar across the street, “Tan Fannies.”
Moving here, we actually got directions “turn left where the Junior High School burned down”. I expected fragments of burned out walls, but all that remained was the bare slab. Fortunately, the grass had just been mowed prior to school starting, or I would have missed that.

Okay… so where is the old shrimp boat restaurant?

Around here, people use bars as landmarks, rather than the church or gas station across the street.

Come to think of it, you can’t get there from here.
