A long time ago, my wife discovered she lost the diamond out of her wedding ring. She thought it happened in the house, so after searching everywhere, we decided to go through the contents of the vacuum bag. It was a messy job, and unfortunately the effort was fruitless.
The following year, we bought her a new car, and instead of trading in her old car, we decided to sell it ourself. In hopes of getting top dollar, I spent an entire day detailing it. While cleaning the interior, I saw a sparkle from inside the carpet pile, and dug out the old stone. It wasn’t all that large, but it was a stone she received after her Mom passed away, so it held a special place in her heart.
She still has the stone, now back in the same ring she wore when we were first married in 1971…
A man called Madman Muntz was at first a successful car salesman, and eventually went into the electronics business. His stuff was known as cheap, and his secret was easy to understand. When he decided to build a color TV, he purchased a high quality set from another manufacturer, and instructed his technicians to systematically remove one component at a time from the sample TV until it would no longer work.
After reinstalling the component, he proceeded to another area of the set’s chassis, until the tech could find nothing left to remove and keep the set functioning. This became the prototype for the new Muntz TV…

If you run over the cord with the vacuum, it may be a part of the cord insulation that chipped off. Been there.
