Bill Blass did some ad listing the things he liked in a woman, and one of them was “Does crossword puzzles in ink.” (Others were “Goes to the theater alone,” and “Would spend her last dollar on perfume. Preferably mine.”)

Airline magazine crossword puzzles are fun; particularly when you don’t read the clues and just fill in the puzzle with random words that fit.

I normally don’t quite finish before my flight lands, but I’d like to see the face on the next person that attempts the unfinished puzzle I left behind….

I do that but I press lightly, I guess you could say I live on the edge but I do it carefully.

One is cheating otherwise. Ask my Mom (the mathscience PHd from 1942).

If I only have a pen, I write lightly and small in the the corner of the square until I know my word choice is correct. Also use the margins.

My high school debate partner (she’s now a Doctor) could do the NY Times Crossword in pen as fast as she could fill in the words.

A pencil and a good eraser are my only hope.

I use an ink pen to do crossword puzzles. They are erasable, but ink no less.

Hate to say this, but my-first thought of what she was doing is what I do each morning: Checking the obituaries, to make certain that I didn’t that I didn’t “make-the-cut” for this-round.

You know…kinda like the sports-page used to be. (Except it as well is figuratively-dead, as far as I’m concerned…!) ☺

Crosswords are easier in pen. Wrong answer written in pencil (because you can erase) will lead you down dead ends. Leaving blanks because of the ink and keeping your guesses in your head will free up your imagination to get the right answers.
