In the UK, we say….. the Cat’s whiskers …but also, the Dog’s bollox…… Spelling changed for this site. Both meaning ….something great.

After much negotiations, the dogs and cats settled on a neutral species: The Bees knees.

although I’ve seen the expression in books and heard it in movies I have never heard anyone I know say it. I think it’s out of fashion now: US, old-fashioned + informal. used to say that someone or something is very appealing. I really like that car; it’s the cat’s meow.
