    Two things:

    1) That’s a very dangerous way of reaching the bulbs. A stepladder is infinitely preferable.

    2) CFLs are being phased out; update the advice by replacing incandescents and CFLs with LEDs.

I thought Pennys friend was only renting a room? It looks like she is taking over the whole house?!

Last time I tried LEDs, my room looked as if it had a disco ball.Penny’s arm can stretch really a lot.

Of course they’re more expensive, and they’ll create a toxic spill if you break one…

So don’t break one and dispose of them carefully. Its that bit of mercury in them. They last awhile too. LEDs will be better.

Another thing to think about – I live in an older house with electrical problems – CFLs don’t last any longer than florescents here, and we aren’t the only ones in the neighborhood with the problem. And nobody has the money to get the problem identified. Maybe just an old house thing?

I put ‘em in hard-to-reach places ’cause they last a little longer—-but not forever, ’cause some start to strobe after a couple years. For regular use I prefer regular bulbs—-you can get them, the ones I got say “made in India,” but I’m not ratting anybody out for selling them.
