In real life, if you’re just wanting to learn new things for the sake of self-improvement, there are many places where you can turn.
For example, YouTube has (or at least, had) a portion of the website known as “Expert Village” where actual experts who worked at a particular skill or trade for a living recorded videos teaching the basics. For example, the lessons on how to play a guitar were taught by the guitarist for the band Blessd Union of Souls.
iTunes also has a lot of podcasts and even had an “iTunes University” premised on something similar, experts providing lectures and other materials.
Many religious groups also have their materials online for those interested in boning up on theology.
