The damage that Trump, AND His Disciples, have done and continue to inflict on America ensures that anxiety will be with us for years.

You may not be freaked out enough by the SolarWinds hack — Bloomberg Opinion Today: So Your Entire Government Has Been Hacked It says a lot about 2020 that “Russia probably hacked the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile” isn’t the biggest news of the year, but here we are.

A former acting chief of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence office has told Congress that DHS leaders pressed him to overstate illegal border crossings from Mexico and overplay the role of far left groups in violence during anti-government protests last summer, his lawyer said.

In testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, former intelligence chief Brian Murphy accused department leadership of urging him to “blame Far Left groups in an exaggerated fashion” for violence during summer protests in Portland, Oregon, according to lawyer Mark Zaid.

In closed-door committee hearings last Friday and Monday, Murphy acknowledged that Far Left protesters were responsible for some of the violence, Zaid said.

In a Sept. 8 whistleblower complaint, Murphy accused President Donald Trump’s acting DHS chief, Chad Wolf, of having told him to hold back on circulating assessments of the threat of Russian interference in the approaching Nov. 3 election in part because it “made the President look bad.” Wolf also asked Murphy to play down U.S. white supremacist activity, the complaint said.

Zaid said the committee questioned Murphy about allegations in his complaint that DHS officials pressured him to support greatly exaggerated claims about the number of people entering from Mexico suspected of plotting attacks on the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen delivered congressional testimony which amounted to a “deliberate submission of false material information,” according to an initially anonymous whistleblower complaint Murphy submitted to DHS’ inspector general.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Thursday said it was “stunning” for the White House to not issue a response regarding multiple alleged U.S. government cyber attacks stemming from Russia.

The senator from Utah tweeted an abbreviated version of the statement he told SiriusXM’s Chief Washington Correspondent Olivier Knox in a prerecorded interview, noting the recent reports of Russian hacks into government agencies showed “alarming U.S. vulnerability” and “apparent cyber warfare weakness.”

“I think the White House needs to say something aggressive about what happened. This is almost as if you had a Russian bomber flying undetected over the country, including over the nation’s capital, and not to respond in a setting like that is really stunning," Romney told Knox.

On Sunday, reports emerged showing that the U.S. Treasury Department and a Commerce Department agency had been breached by a Russian military intelligence unit known as “Cozy Bear,” which is responsible for past hacks into government agencies.

The Republican senator’s comments come one day after Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) voiced similar thoughts about the recent alleged Russian hacks, calling it "virtually a declaration of war by Russia on the United States and we should take that seriously.”

President Trump has not addressed the latest hacks reported by Reuters on Sunday, and White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said Tuesday the administration is “taking a hard look into this,” CNBC reported.

The Hill reached out to the White House but did not immediately receive a response.

CISA officials further said that "it will take weeks, if not months, to determine the total number of agencies affected by the attack and the extent to which sensitive data and information may have been compromised.”

    Sure… Now that he’s the target….

    ~

Gov. Brian Kemp is fed up with the unrelenting attacks from conspiracy theorists calling on him to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia. But he’s even more enraged that some of those peddlers of false claims are targeting his wife and three daughters.

“It has gotten ridiculous — from death threats, (claims of) bribes from China, the social media posts that my children are getting,” he said. “We have the ‘no crying in politics rule’ in the Kemp house. But this is stuff that, if I said it, I would be taken to the woodshed and would never see the light of day.”

The Republican singled out the invective targeting his daughter Lucy, who has received hate-filled messages about inane false conspiracies about the death of her longtime boyfriend, Harrison Deal, who was killed in a traffic accident this month in Savannah.

“I can assure you I can handle myself. And if they’re brave enough to come out from underneath that keyboard or behind it, we can have a little conversation if they would like to.”

Kemp, speaking to reporters shortly after a vaccine-related event at Grady Memorial, did not blame President Donald Trump for the wrath he’s facing from Republicans, even though the president has stoked the fury by blasting Kemp for refusing to illegally reverse his defeat in Georgia.

Tracking vaccine distribution, state by state

    .

Distribution of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to more than 600 locations in all 50 states is underway. These locations are primarily large health-care systems able to handle the vaccines and their storage at ultracold temperatures.

Health-care workers and nursing home residents have begun receiving doses of the Pfizer vaccine. If the Moderna vaccine is authorized in December, supply to the states will increase greatly and more people will be vaccinated.

Operation Warp Speed, the Trump administration’s initiative to speed development of vaccines and therapeutics, has repeatedly declined to disclose the number of doses the federal government is sending to each state or jurisdiction.

The Post is tracking how many doses are being delivered in the first set of Pfizer’s newly authorized vaccine and the expected Moderna rollout.
