   I have always said I would vote for a rock rather than Trump. It is so disappointing the Democrats are coming close to making me do so.

   During this era the past few Presidents and much of the country believed in small federal government and few regulations on business or people (much like the Republicans of today). When the depression hit and WWII followed it lead FDR to create a larger Federal government with more rules and many conservatives such as Crosby objected.

   One of the reasons to turn this strip over to a new young artist is to start aiming the comics to young people rather than us old folks who still have most of the newspaper comic page to read. HEART IN THE CITY is an established strip and gives her a head start in papers that carry her than if she started with zero papers. While some here will leave because of their own opinion and tastes, NANCY has proven there is a large number of readers seeking change, people who don’t share your opinion, people who may out-number the old readers.

   The joke is great because it fits Amelia, a Mother of a tomboy, and Wallace who happens to have fireworks. However ,my late sister Patty collected Barbies until she died at 49 (four years ago). Barbie is not a villain but a choice for young girls to make on their own and happily today they still get to choose their toy lifestyle.

   I don’t understand the rush to commit. I have over one year and three months before I have to actually decide. It is more fun to have an open mind and see if natural selection can get it right this time.

   My problem is they take the fun out of the game. At this year’s College World Series ESPN would not stop talking about the respected Florida State coach who is in his last year and while he had been many times to the World Series he had never won and wouldn’t it be swell if they win. Yeah, unless you are rooting for another team and don’t enjoy the guilt trip. We used to just enjoy the game. I don’t want to know who rescues puppy or has a sick sister, all I want is for someone to tell me the score and let me watch the game.

   I like Warren but she reminds me of Adlai Stevenson who proved too smart for the room and got trounced by Eisenhower in 52 and 56. The job I want to see Warren get is Senate leader, someone with the power to get things done.

   UPN did become the fifth network. It and WB merged and became CW.

   I loved our fake silver tree with four color lights. Decorating the tree included the joy of putting the tree together. No living tree had to die nor were there any painful needles for us to deal with. Oddly enough I still prefer the silver fake tree over todays green realistic looking fake trees.

    As with many of the strips here you can read Alley Oop from the “beginning.” Click on the strip’s name and visit its home page, scroll down to find a place where you can click to read strip from the beginning. In Alley Oop case the beginning is January 1, 1996. I guess they don’t own the rights to strips earlier than that.
