Complaining here about the lack of new cartoons has absolutely no purpose. Nick Galifianakis is still illustrating Carolyn Hax’s articles in The Washington Post, but his syndicate (or the Post) has obviously stopped providing the images to GoComics, and there is nothing that GoComics can do about this. If you like “Nick & Zuzu”, then you should either subscribe to the Post, or check out Nick’s Instagram account (the address is on the left edge of the comic above).
The Daily Cartoonist posted a relevant article, with this Sunday strip as the first item; see: HttpS://Www.DailyCartoonist.Com, and search for “csotd-seven-more-days-in-may”, dated 25-Apr-2024.
Gene Weingarten explained: “… I was going to say it was a coincidence, but then I realized that I didn’t put in that last panel. Amy Lago suggested the panel go dark, and I said sure, for narrative reasons alone. I was sure it was a coincidence, but I called Amy and she said she was very aware of the eclipse date and that’s why she did it. Didn’t even think to tell me or take a bow, which is the sign of a VERY self-confident editor.”

Friday’s strip (26-Jun-2020) was the last new daily strip to be published, this one is a re-run from 2014. The Daily Cartoonist reported that syndication was abruptly cancelled on 31-Jul-2020. John Allen died two months later, on 20-Sep-2020.
Has it been settled just WHERE these characters are living? US? UK? Canada? (I wonder how many Americans would recognize the common British abbreviation “CV” – no, it does NOT mean “105”.)
Charles Schulz didn’t just retire, he died just four days before this comic was published.
