How old are Betty and her husband supposed to be? I mean, Junior looks to be… eight to ten, maybe- so I’m guessing they might be in their early to mid 40s at most? I’m wondering why someone born in the late 70s to early 80s would have such a collection of vinyl (as cassettes and CDs would have been far more familiar to someone in that age bracket), and- moreso- who turned him on to the (ahem) “psychedelic” stuff?Yeah, I know… it’s a cartoon.
Dale Murphy (‘76-’93) started his pro career in the Braves’ farm system as a catcher- and had a cannon of an arm- but had trouble with throws back to the mound. They moved him to right field, where he played for most of his MLB career- including the first-ever back-to-back MVP awards in ‘82-’83.Rick Ankiel (‘99-’13) is a more recent example, and a pitcher- like the unseen hurler here. When he came up with the Cardinals, he was on a roll- finishing second in the balloting for NL Rookie of the Year in until famously melting down in the 2000 NLCS against the Mets. After kicking around their farm system, he finally made it back to the majors as an outfielder, where he played quite competently, if not spectacularly.
Okay, the pedantic nerd in me has to point out that “Star Wars” was absolutely not subtitled “A New Hope” or numbered “Episode IV”. It was just “Star Wars”. The subtitle and episode number weren’t there until it’s 1981 re-release (post “Empire Strikes Back”, which was Episode V from the get-go).
Alexander Hamilton Stephens’ (VP of the Confederacy) “Cornerstone Speech” specifically calls slavery “the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution” (his description of the secession). And he defends his claim at length in said address. To claim otherwise is disingenuous.
“…And he set a moral tone and a decency that we just weren’t ready for.”I could start a flame war if I responded with my views on that, so I’ll just say I 100% agree with that opinion.
