I am reminded of the infamous video of a hospital putting a senile lady still wearing the backless hospital gown into a taxi, telling the cabby to take her away, a street camera shows the cabby pushing her out onto a vacant downtown street around midnight, and quickly driving away.
About Medicare stepping up when UHC will not pay: my own healthcare team has mentioned this possibility of Medicare taking up the slack. I have not yet had to investigate this possibility. The Catholic hospital covered by my insurance policy also offers financial assistance if I have to apply for it.
I see it as whatever “authorities” are looking for his parents, they are letting the good, kind, intelligent Gasoline Alley folks give him a home, rather than putting him in the foster system! (shudder)
