This is not Mr. Carroll’s main job. Sometimes it posts daily, other times weeks go by. But it is one of the best out there, worth waiting for.

" It was built by people who came in through the front door, legally, with the understanding that they were free to pursue their dreams, free to create a life far better than what they left behind. With the sweat of their brows and the toil of their own two hands."

The public charge rule, as defended by Cuccinelli, would have stopped a huge number of these people. It is written to apply to legal immigrants, following the rules. It bars admittance to people who have received benefits or might receive benefits in the future. It is not written to allow people to pursue dreams and create a life better than what they left behind, it is written to only allow people who have already achieved dreams to enter.

    Sanders is an independent.

AOC has said she is a democratic socialist, defined as “Democratic socialism is a political philosophy that advocates political democracy alongside a socially owned economy, with an emphasis on workers’ self-management and democratic control of economic institutions within a market or some form of a decentralised planned socialist economy.”

About a year ago, the Dems agreed to a Trump proposal on border security, including a bunch of money for the wall. Trump basically said, “Oh, maybe I can get more” so he made an addition to the deal. Dems were less enthusiastic, but agreed. Then Trump did it again, and the Dems said, “No, that’s too far.” Trump blamed the Dems for the failure of the deal.

That is called “moving the goalposts” and you can’t blame the Dems for being wary. Trump also casts compromise as depicted above – “We should compromise and do it my way”. He also tends to create problems, then claim to be a hero for solving them.

The latest proposal from the White House meets all these criteria. Trump’s “compromise” added codicils related to asylum that had not been previously discussed and were sure to raise objections, proposed delaying unpopular moves that he had taken regarding DACA and TPS, and was delivered with the threat of ignoring anything that came out congressional discussion that didn’t give in to his demands.

That isn’t compromise, that is a bully agreeing to take a kid’s lunch money and promising not to hit him again until tomorrow.

I think a third party, perhaps through a division of the Republican party, is becoming more feasible all the time.

And, I personally know someone who was inordinately impacted by the Russian influence and changed his vote. I no longer communicate with that person, so I don’t know if he regrets it.

There is a reason Trump wants to do it before November 1 and the military says “Veteran’s Day” is the earliest.

CBSnews.com : “Dates discussed for the event include July 4 and Memorial Day, which is May 28. According to the Post, however, the Pentagon prefers it be held on Nov. 11, which is both Veterans’ Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.”
