“Contrails” are the white streaks of water vapor that jets write across the sky when they pass. Conspiracy nuts have decided that, contrary to all the evidence AND common sense, these water vapor trails are ACTUALLY chemicals being sprayed by the government to keep us docile or something, and they call them “chemtrails”. (Thousands of airline mechanics disagree, but hey, that’s how conspiracy nuts thrive.)

Wow! I majored in pharmaceuticals too, and barely got out of there with my degree in English.

So, instead of grumping about the cartoonists, you’re grumping about people who don’t agree with your take on the “guest artists”? Glad we could give you something to do.

Luann is one of those strips that people follow along for years and years because we know and like the characters. These new, labored artsy-cartoonsy drawings are about as welcome as eggshells in an omelet. May we hope that this excursion is nearly over and that the “real” cast will return soon?

Even in this early version, I like the characters much more than in the current Disneyfied “guest artist” run.

I hope any guest artists will first learn how to draw the characters. There are all kinds of ways to be a guest artist without changing the way the familiar characters are drawn.

And what’s really scary is that the senile one and the psycho are the same person. Did you happen to read in one of the many available sources that the reports of Biden’s “mental failings” were grossly exaggerated in the report all the right-wing press was quoting?

There’s a marvelous book out there – 1942’s “Van Loon’s Lives” (by Hendrik Willem Van Loon), the gist of which is that the author finds he is able to invite historical personages to dinner by slipping the invitations under the stone lions at the public library – and they show up! So he has them over, two by two, in in fascinating pair-ups; Queen Elizabeth 1 and Byzantine Empress Theodora, for one. Yes, they all speak the same language or at least are able to communicate perfectly somehow. It’s a lot of fun and also reflects a lot of historical research.

Does anyone else remember those halcyon days when “Human Relations” was actually occasionally helpful to employees? Now they just do the hatchet jobs.
