Somehow, in this day and time, this cartoon is a whole lot less than funny. Don’t get me wrong – I love it, and Wiley always finds the best ways to twist the knife. It’s just too true to be funny.
My spouse and I make less than $2000/month, GROSS salary combined; health care would cost us nearly $300/month and would not cover the $3000 root canal that he just had done. It also will not cover $300/month in asthma inhalers (thank Glaxo-Klein for that one), diabetic testing supplies, podiatric appliances for my flat feet, or chiropractic adjustment for my spinal problems that started because I couldn’t afford to see a doctor. I want nationalized universal health care, and I want it starting about five years ago. The Greedy Obstructionist Party (GOP) should be ashamed of itself.
We will Rebuild and Recover… if we can Recall various Republican holdouts from their public offices. Perhaps those are “The Three R’s” we should be teaching the public right now.
Please don’t blame good and proper public benevolence for this woman’s horrifyingly egocentric irresponsibility. In fact, the whole “big family” thing is very Neo-Con pseudo-Christian foolishness. Perhaps she’s just being a good Republican, shafting the system for her own benefit while shafting others who genuinely need the help. (Gosh, was that a bit one-sided? It’s a good thing no one else who commented is in any way one-sided…)
This is particularly relevent in view of the recent birth of otctuplets to a couple who already had six children. This sort of madness is unconscionably egocentric. No one’s genes are so valuable that they need to be replicated 14 times. Talk about your “carbon footprint”…!!!
