Gentle posters: Please take note that opponents of a single payer, universal health care system will invariably continue trotting out the old “waiting list” saw. Bless them, the righties may not have any ideas fresher than a stale box of Space Food Sticks, but they certainly have their talking-point taglines down. The sad reality about the cons’ “axims of evil” is that (a) they rely heavily on frightening the public, and (b) they usually hit home with a punch-drunk and television-addled American public.

While I’ve never been Specter’s biggest fan, I admire the honesty in which he made the switch – citing political expediency, as well as the fact that the Republican party has (my words) lost its way. It’s an important (but often ignored) lesson: Attempting to simultaneously appeal to stump-ignorant, race-bating, slack-jawed, knuckle-dragging, religious fetishists – as well as to cynical corporatist mysanthropes and self-loathing, sexually-closeted, white suburbanites will result in only temporary success. Eventually, the bile will reflux and cause purgation. The flaming package of lies that landed on America’s doorstep with the glazed-eyes Reaganites has slowly ruptured and is now seaping an ungodly stink. And all that Republicans can do in response is to nervously offer up more putrid stink; and they don’t even bother repackaging it! Astounding.

Oops. My apologies. I meant to say “pro-Batista,” not “anti-Batista.” And if you think about it, the South Florida right-wing Cuban Nationals are really just pi**ed off, after all these years, that their beloved US-back strong-arm dictator was deposed back in 1959. Amazing, these oddballs love for the likes of Batista, Somoza, Franco, Pinochet, Hernández, Efrain Rios Mont and Noriega. And no, I’m not an apologist for Castro’s rancid human rights record, but I am a proponent of moving forward, now that Fidel’s regime is coming to a merciful end.

I went off on a rant, didn’t I? Bottom line: Florida has been a key southern, swing state for the Repubbies since 1960. Aging, virulently anti-Batista, reactionary Cuban nationals in South Florida have held hostage the state’s national political stature for decades; and politicians without honor or courage have kow-towed to the wobbly-eyed right-wing Cuban nationals to such a degree that the Republican Party now appears as out of date and decrepid as the grumbling, white haired cranks dotting the palm-lined parks around Pompano Beach, Boca and Ft. Lauderdale. Yes, the Cold War is over. [SOB!] Whatever shall the Repubby Neanderthals do? Where shall they go? Frankly, mi amigo, I don’t give a damn. Just, please god, go away! You’e run this country into the ground since inauguration day 1981. It’s over. Heart you. Mean it.

Hey etocme! Whose Kool Aid have you been drinking lately… Limbaugh’s, Fox “News,” Dick Armey’s, Hannity’s? When you and your knuckle-dragging buddies spout “socialism,” do you know what you’re referring to? Can you cite a specific example of how America is becoming “socialist”? Is it Medicare? Social Security? Publicly funded law enforcement? Public schools? What? The trouble with right-wing extreme is that they relay too heavily on trigger words fed to them from their dear leaders (who use their followers like cannon fodder). The true believers then lurch around murmering the talking points without thought or awareness. “Socialism”? Really? Like everyone else, I wonder where all of you were over the last 8 years when your Monkey Boy thrashed the Constitution, Habeas Corpus, bamboozled us and our service men and women into a phoney war, tortured people at the peril of our men and women in uniform, single-handedly destroyed our economy and put countless working men and women out of work, ignored sky rocketing healthcare costs and premiums, and on and on and on. But now, these rightist brainiacs are suddenly “civic minded” and are tossing tea bags and spewing “Socialism!” I would laugh, if you all weren’t so amazingly pathetic.

It’s incomprehensible why the Republican Party continues to rely on the now-proven-faulty old supply side / monetarist economic model. There are only extremist right wingers left in the Congress, and they continue to sleepily murmer “tax cuts” and “deregulation,” even though those two devices have come closest to destroying this country than any other pointedly false philosophy! These cranky obstructionists are singing to their wacko base back home, but the majority of Americans are scared sh**less and support the President’s measures to get us back on our feet (eventually). Where are the fresh, new Republican ideas? Who now speaks for the decrepid GOP? Limbaugh? Palin? Grandpa McCain? Good sweet god! Time for the Modern Whig Party to take over as the home for what’s left of the traditional conservatives. I hate how the Democrats historically seem able to succeed only upon the rotting carcass of a failed Republican Party.

It’s admirable that Oli never betrays a partisan slant and spares no public official his biting wit. However, I’m scratching my head over this one. To draw a parallel between Bush’s “My Pet Goat” / 911 terrorist attack with Obama reading to children during a severe and prolonged economic recession is, in my opinion, a poor device. “The Little Flower” read the Sunday comics to listeners over the radio during the Depression, which didn’t jeopardize his ability to effectively serve as Gotham’s mayor. I’m afraid Oli phoned this one in. Just sayin’.
