âDick honey, something doesnât feel right about this!â
Tessâ s words still rung in Tracyâs brain as he walked towards the diner he agreed to meet Matty at.
âTess is right as always, this is insane!â he sighed as he entered the diner.
âWho would have imagined as recently as 5 years ago that I would ever agree to talk with this idol obsessed, destructive hanger onâ! He chuckled as he realized how low things had become here at home.
His concern that he wouldnât recognize Matty quickly faded away as he immediately saw everyone staring at the man wearing his pink Dick Tracy underwear outside his pants!
âGood to know some things never change, unlike Tracyville!â

âPlease God, show me a sign if you want me to try to change things. Lord I canât do this by myself. Send me an ally to team up with meâ.
Just then the phone rang.
âWho in blazes is calling at this time?â
He muttered as he picked up the phone.
âWho is itâ
âTracy, itâs me, Matthew!â

ESCAPE FROM THE PLANT OF THE MAGPIES!
Tracy couldnât sleep. Tossing and turning he took a small amount of comfort feeling Tess resting along side of him.
âHow peaceful she looks, and how screwed up everything has becomeâ!He lamented to himself as he reluctantly resigned himself to having to accept that nothing will ever be the same in town again.
âThe idiots have destroyed the joy of this place, everything has turned cold and grayâ!
Quietly he prayed for a miracle.

.Chapter 12âOk Warbucks, Iâll check it out & get back to you if I find out anythingâ. Tracy disconnected the call and put his cell phone in his jacket pocket. He wasnât very happy with what he just heard from Warbucks. âEverything points to sabotageâ! Tracy muttered under his breath as he walked towards the office Dr. Magpie assigned him to. He was glad he was hired to be head of Magpieâs security while the group was in town. ââEight week run, not a bad gig. Get to earn a little pocket change on the side. Hopefully Warbucks lets me keep itâ! He smiled at his little joke before getting serious again once he sat behind his makeshift desk, which was no more than a piece of plywood held up with some milk cartons. Tracy recapped everything heâd just heard. Seems like two persons of interest both worked on the preparing of Red Raven right before she exploded and were part of the ground crew that prepared the Warbucks plane he almost lost his life on. He shook his head recalling how Warbucks informed him that after one of the two was located near Warbucks headquarters and brought in for questioning they were barely able to escort him to a private room for interrogation before something Tracy never heard of happened. âHis head explodedâ! Was how Warbucks explained it. âYe Gads, Ghastly stuffâ. Tracy recalled was all he could muster. âTracy, itâs unquestionably the handy work of the Blue circle. Be very carefulâ! Tracy had never heard of this âBlue Circleâ organization but based on Warbucks warning he knew it couldnât hurt to watch his back..Meanwhile;.Annie didnât regret for one second taking the bus to Dr. Magpieâs showplace rather than calling a cab. âNo sense tempting fate, no telling how many cabbies are looking for meâ! Annie knew that however slim the possibility was that she would ride in a cab with a driver who wanted to kill her she wouldnât be able to count on someone like Dick Tracy to save her again. âItâs a shame I had to cut out on him like that but this is something best done aloneâ. She thought as she got off the bus at the stop closest to the tent. She appreciated what he did and all but was afraid heâd just get in the way. âLetâs face it;â she chuckled to herself, âHe is on the âold âsideâ! Walking up to the entrance she was glad to see about a dozen or so people lined up for the temporary jobs the traveling show offered. âMust be the bad economyâ. She sadly shook her head while grateful she wasnât the only one on line. âIâll just be one of many, blending in while figuring out whatâs going on in this place. Taking her place at the end of the line she was immediately confronted by the young man standing in front of her who turned around to greet her with a huge smile. âHi, are you here for a job alsoâ? He eagerly asked her. âYes I amâ, Annie responded while trying to ignore him. What she really wanted to say was, âwell duh, why else would I be standing on this lineâ? She quickly realized he wouldnât take the hint as he continued to talk to her. âHey so am I. We have a lot in common. Iâve been out of work for longer than I can rememberâ. âWell I just lost my jobâ, Annie answered, hoping he would leave her alone. âIâm positive itâll be only a short term setbackâ. Annie sighed when she saw he was not going to stop talking to her. âOh, I used to think like that also. Itâs been years since Iâve workedâ. âI always try to look at life in a positive lightâ! âJust when you think things are at their darkest and canât get any worse something good happensâ!Annie had had enough.âListen buster, who are you and why are you bothering meâ? She quickly wished she hadnât yelled at him once she saw everyone else turn and look at them.âSorry, I didnât mean to upset you. I should have introduced myself right away.â âIt was very rude of me not to.â âSince the day they adopted me my parents taught me better than that and to always respect the feelings of othersâ.

.Chapter 11
.Annie felt a burst of excitement running through her entire body. She found it impossible not to giggle out loud. âGolly, I must sound like a silly school girlâ. She laughingly thought to herself. She knew her âDaddyâ wouldnât approve, nor would Amelia. âActually, no one would approve of what Iâm about to doâ! She shouted at herself as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. âWow, I donât recognize myself and I know who I amâ! She blurted out loud in astonishment over her transformation. Annie knew that it made no sense spying on Dr. Magpie looking like she normally did. Not if someone who wanted her dead was there. âRed hairâs always a giveaway, thatâs for sureâ. Annie was amazed how wearing different clothes, cutting her hair short and dying it black hair could transform her into a different person. âLetâs see them figure out who I am nowâ! She defiantly said out loud as she walked out of the door to her hotel room and into the thick of a mystery that she had no idea how it would end. The only thing that she knew for sure was that she felt like she was finally beginning to put the events of the recent past behind her and was actually starting to look forward with anticipation to whatever lay ahead. âFunny that I have to become someone else in order to really become Annie againâ. She thought as the door closed behind her..Meanwhile, at the outskirts of town;.Tracy was glad he still remembered how to juggle three eggs without dropping them. âMedicine show, circus acts, performance troop, whatâs the difference. They all need short term local help whenever they come to a new cityâ. Tracy thought as he walked up towards the temporary tent put up on the outskirts of the city. He was confident he could land some sort of job with Dr. Magpieâs group that would allow him to observe the goings on without drawing too much attention to himself. âNothing special looking about this tent, although it does seem rather smallâ. Tracy pondered as he entered the tent. He wondered just how many acts went on inside. âHey you, old man! Get out of here before I break you in halfâ! Startled at the loud, rough voice that seemed to come out of nowhere Tracy turned to his left to see who was the source of the insult and the threat aimed at him. Expecting to see some middle aged, overweight cigar smoking roughneck ready to throw him out Tracy was startled to see that the person attached to the voice was a very young, extremely beautiful looking female who appeared to be in her early twenties. âWow did I peg that wrongâ. Tracy thought as he quickly reminded himself it was never a good thing to stereotype. âSorry Miss, I didnât mean to trespass. I was hoping to find the person I need to talk to about getting a temporary job with the showâ. Tracy waited for what seemed like an eternity for an answer, mesmerized by how beautiful the girl in front of him, who obviously was sizing him up looked. Finally she broke into a huge smile and walking over to him extended her hand out. âThat would be me. Who are youâ? Tracy silently sighed; relieved he was able to get his foot in the door. Or rather the tent. âMy nameâs Tracy, Dick Tracy. Iâm a retired police officer and looking for a part time job with Dr. Magpie. May I ask your nameâ? âYou may ask, I might tell you.â Tracy couldnât tell if she was being serious or just joking around until she began to laugh. âSorry, old corny joke I learned from my father. My name is Judyâ. âPleased to meet you Judy. âHope all the jokes your dad taught you arenât as bad as that last oneâ. âHey Dick, donât insult the hand that feeds you!" Tracyâs jaw dropped. âYou mean,â? Judy started laughing out loud again. âYes, my father is Dr. Magpieâ. âFascinating!â Was all Tracy could muster..To Be ContinuedâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ
