smarkflea may have been on to something, if the sneaker logos were accidentally and similarly designed to match that innuendo…

I disagree with westiewestaz. The are ample benefits to introducing music to kids at a young age. Yet there already are enough obstacles to music appreciation and education without worrying about volume on an ipod. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that kids’ listening devices are used properly and to teach proper use. In this story, that would be the responsibility of Adam, who has been portrayed as an attentive father. The ears of real kids are in hands just as safe – just because I know another parent might let their kid listen too loudly to an mp3 player doesn’t deter me from allowing my kid to use one under my supervision, and I control the volume. Thanks to her $25 mp3 player, my 7 year old now knows music from handel and beethoven to evanescence and ozzy; from mozart and chopin to mary poppins, disney, the Radio Free Vestibules, andrew lloyd webber and, yes, barney and the wiggles. Used properly, as here, they can be a beneficial toy. And that’s a very considerate sister :-)
