The executive branch is relatively powerless without the approval of the legislative. Not to mention the historical perspective of a successful president is largely determined by events beyond his control. Consider Lincoln. If the Union had lost (a factor mostly beyond his control besides, ironically, the appointment of a drunk for a general) then he would have gone down as one of the worst presidents in history for the very same choices that now make him one of the best.
This country is heading in the wrong direction. But to point the finger at any one man, regardless of public speaking ability (and lets face it…that’s virtually the sole factor on which 99% of the population, the comic strip in discussion and ALL the posts above, judge him) is simply ignorant. Unfortunately, I have no faith that we will get any change, regardless of who is elected.
