One of the reasons I moved out of town 20 years ago was so nobody could whine about my tall grass and free-range trees and shrubs. The veg gardens and house and deck plants are pretty well maintained. 3 flower beds out of 5 are ragged. It’s not a golf course. I have better things to do.
I have 3 acres, mowed about 2 1/2. Except for inside the fence around the house, the perimeter, and useful paths, I stopped. This is not a golf course. I cut some of the tall stuff for garden mulch occasionally. I’ll have it all mowed again before winter, to keep brush from getting started. Meanwhile, I save time and gas, and have time to deal with other things that were neglected.
Gas riding mowers with electric start are usually not much trouble, but anything smaller (mower, weedeater, whatever), you can have the work half done with an electric in the time it takes to maintain and start a gas one.
Some of them are self-terminating, like my unvaxxed right-wing friend who died last week in the hospital. His unvaxxed son brought it home, but he was just really sick for four days. His intentional ignorance is what did him in.
20 years ago, hot and sunny in England was 85. Now, 104 is indeed scary.
