so it can be disposed of appropriately – not where someone else is going to come in contact with it. what’s really disgusting is when someone uses their napkin for that purpose at a restaurant and then leaves it on the plate for the staff to accidently put their finger in it. Yuck!
Add to that, it was Trump, not Biden who laid the groundwork for what is often said to be the chaotic exit from Afghanistan. although it was an amazingly successful airlift out. And it was Trump __ not __ Biden who negotiated “peace in the Middle East” while completely excluding the Palestinians from the negotiations.
we tried making a dinner reservation on the Isle of Lewis (outer Hebrides) where my granddad was from – first used my name, MacKenzie; response was, well, that’s not very helpful. Used my Japanese-American husband’s name – that worked. I seem to be related on some level to almost everyone on the island.
Here, all blood donated is tested by the blood center. that way there’s no question as to whether the results are for the blood in the bag. We also have to answer a bunch of questions related to risky behaviors, health, travel, etc. And they take blood pressure, weight, pulse, listen for heart irregularities, and do a red blood cell count.
“Luann’s obsession with needing everyone to join her in whatever her passion of the day is shows her fear of being independent”.No, it shows Luann practicing her leadership skills – encouraging others to engage in something that helps others. If she can save 3 lives by donating, think how many lives she would save by getting a bunch of other people to donate. And who knows? maybe some of them will become regular donors.
You also don’t have to be underweight for your own body to weigh too little to donate blood. My long-time friend, for most of her life has not weighed enough to donate. She’s just thin; not underweight, eats normally.
Honoring teachers, nurses, etc. On Memorial Day, I also remember those who serve and have died in the line of service – especially teachers who die protecting their students in school shootings, fire fighters, health care workers (particularly those who died during the Covid crisis), law enforcement, you get the idea. When I led congregations, I included them in Memorial Day prayers. But especially teachers – that isn’t in the job description. Risk is inherent to police, fire, and military service.
Give me a break…. I’ve lived in the PNW all my life. We may not get hurricanes, but we do get strong windstorms (especially on the coast) and we’ve sunk a couple bridges because of it. And floods, mudslides, landslides and droughts and wildfires. And yes, exploding mountains. I have a jar of ash collected from my deck after 3 Mt. St. Helens eruptions. And we have tsunami evacuation routes posted on the roads near the ocean. But I wouldn’t live anywhere else.
