    Not sure Nimrod was such a great man. Many writings - as in Josephus - Nimrod is a man who sets his will against that of God. In others, he proclaims himself a god and is worshipped as such by his subjects, sometimes with his consort Semiramis worshipped as a goddess at his side

The American neologism of ‘nimrod’ as an insult comes from the phrase “poor little Nimrod,” used by the cartoon character Bugs Bunny to mock the hapless hunter Elmer Fudd. Clearly the original meaning was lost on much of the audience. Kind of like the way ‘geek’ was redefined to mean nerd, even though geek in its original meaning is much more applicable to jocks than nerds. Nobody screws up English like Americans. LOL
