   Probably more opportunistic and self serving than dumb. He raised his own profile particularly with those who are into the culture wars even though it damages his own country in the process.

   I remember the elections. I also remember Hamas did win fairly after years of Fatah inefficiency and i believe corruption. But rather than accept it Israel and USA took step to sabotage it including arresting the elected MPs for being members of Hamas rather a specific crime and allowing Fatah to forcibly remove it from the West Bank. They didn’t cancel the elections, external forces did.

   So you make its supporters martyrs, teach them the democratic process is worthless and remove the influence of any moderate that exist within them, some of whom were advocating for a more internationally acceptable stance such as recognizing Israel. Far better they allowed them to govern and watch as they fail and the population become disillusioned with them. Or even better force them to play by the rules in order to maintain their legitimacy.

   I neither like or support Hamas but lets try not to change history or pretend the world can be so clearly divided into black and white

   There is always the third party candidate. I think in the recent past they tend to be more progressive and more to Ted’s liking :)

   Yes the wielder is the problem so why make it so easy to provide him with a weapon that can kill so much more people with minimal effort. .

   America does not have a monopoly on killers. There have been reports of people in China going to kindergarten to kill. The thing is they only had knives to use so they can only target the weakest member of society who cannot run away effectively. And the number of victim are low. In one case none died though at least 39 were injured.

   If the implements are totally blameless can we start selling explosives or flamethrowers in Walmart? Is the freedom to own guns without adequate safeguards more important than children having to school with metal detector, bullet proof bag and having regular drills on what to do when a gunman come visiting and how to run zigzag to avoid a bullet in the back.

   It will take skill to kill dozens of people with a rock and that person can be easily overcome by other people. So yes it is about the weapon at the end of the day.

   When you hear a conservative telling a six year old girl trying to find her lost pet not to press his door bell cos she could get shot in the face you have to admit that’s a problem. And if we think about the rock at the very least the girl could have a small chance to run away if he missed the 1st time. With an AR 15 that small chance becomes so much more unlikely.

    Why would China need to lean on TikTok when its so much easier to buy the data from Facebook, Youtube etc. It like the story I heard so many years ago where Al-Qaida advise it operative to just buy the guns legally rather than smuggling or going to the criminal underworld
