My friend and I saw Brian perform alone and he was good but not great. I grew up with the in southern CA and paid 50 cents to see them perform in 1964 at the Compton Parks and Rec Center when they were in their striped shirt phase. Ironically, the only BB who surfed was Denny and he drowned after too much alcohol pushed him off a pier. Oh—my first car was a ’57 Chevy.
When I quit smoking, I originated the non-smoking break. At that time, you could smoke in the lounge or the hall so I would go outside the production room and spend 6-7 minutes just breathing and relaxing in a chair. No one complained.
R.I.P. to him and his “happy little accidents.”
