    My older brother was given a self-winding watch as a gift. He never wore watches, so I ended up with it. On a Boy Scout canoeing trip down the Pine River, we were out of our canoes and he was threatening to pull some prank on me. I took off the watch and pretended I was going to drop it in the river. I accidently did drop it, and it was carried away immediately. It was a “waterproof” watch, and ever since then I imagine it still in the Pine, snagged on a branch and keeping excellent time due to the water’s motion…
