   Decades in the making is this supply situation. In trying to make increased profits, business reduced inventories. “Everything will get here just in time!” they said. Low inventory means if anything goes wrong (like a pandemic* or a major storm at a big port) the supplies stop moving.

   *Take a moment in these discussions to remember who, with the help of a lot of Republicans, conspiracy nuts and right-wing media made and continue to make the Pandemic in the United States so much worse than it might have been.

   The supply disruption is a another case of Democrats having to fix a problem that business and the Republicans created, while the Republicans howl that Democrats can’t fix it fast enough.

   That depends on where the center is. The Republican Party has taken an extreme position to the right and has maneuvered the Democratic Party away from the left. If center is now where Nixon and Reagan were, that just makes the Democratic party “Republican Lite”.

   President Biden’s agenda is a serious attempt to rebuild infrastructure and protect the rights and well-being of average working people and the middle class. If that’s left of center, then the ‘center’ is in the wrong damned place.

   The right wing should be down on their knees thanking God for General Milley. Milley may have helped prevent a catastrophe of the highest magnitude.

   Instead the right wingers are gleefully using this as a means of distracting us, trying to get us to focus on this rather than the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have died, and will die, due to Trump and his criminal gang’s criminal mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic. Not to mention the right wingers continuing to attempt to seize power through unAmerican means.

   Acting with approval from his superiors, and following established procedures, Milley communicated with his Chinese counterpart, trying to lower tension. Milley acted in accord with his training and his oath to the the Constitution. He did the right thing.

   This cartoon is rank, foul propaganda.

   General Milley had authorization from the secretary of defense to make the calls, followed established procedures, and lowered the possibility of war with a nuclear power. I don’t see how the USA was harmed by his actions. I expect that he would have acted the same way if a Democrat was president.

   Milley acted to protect the country he has served for decades, to prevent a war whose only purpose would have been to entrench a would-be dictator in power, and which would have possibly caused millions of dead.

   Trolls are dangerous.

   They get intelligent people to waste their time responding to them. Responding can be good, because it can hone thinking and writing skills. Those skills could be used for writing letters to congressional representatives, senators, and so on. That would be a better use of the time, in my opinion.

   On the other hand, trolls like SS and KE rile good-hearted people up. If it motivates people to DO SOMETHING like run for office or write letters or donate, good. If, however, they harden our hearts and make us short-tempered with fellow Americans inclined towards the right, that’s divisive. Cue the image of Putin and his ilk smiling. A divided America is a weakened, vulnerable America.

   Please consider these points when you feel like interacting with trolls.

   Ramirez is complaining about what?

   Biden’s response to the disaster Trump and his gang caused by the Trump Administration’s response to the pandemic, 600,000 dead?

   Biden’s having to deal with a disastrous plan to get out of Afghanistan negotiated by Trump?A plan by Trump that sabotaged hope for a more organized end to our presence there?

   This is the Republican playbook:

   Take power. Funnel money to the already rich and powerful. Enrich themselves, and prepare to hold power.

   If they can’t hold power, sabotage the Democrat who replaces them, and complain like crazy when the Democrat struggles with the obstacles the Republicans created. Pave the way for Republicans to get back into power.

   These same Republicans probably couldn’t recite the Preamble to the Constitution, and if they could, don’t give a damn about its meaning.

   I see what you mean, or at least what I think you mean, and I agree with most of it.

   However, my interpretation of events is that a lot of them WERE willing to fight, but not for the kind of country that well-meaning people in the USA want them to have. They were willing to fight and die for the kind of Afghanistan they want. Fighting invaders is what they do. The Greeks, the Persians, the Indians, the British, the Russians, and latest the Americans, all have been thrown out of the country. More than two thousand years of sacrifice.

   The Afghans won’t change. They don’t want to change. If the day ever comes when they want to change, it will be because they decide on something they see as better.
