Henry, have you considered getting a sports fact-checker to run your ideas past? Take creative liberties, but at least get the facts right. For example, last year Rodney tried out for the pros…as a high school junior…. Or running a relay in track with no baton. A fact-checker or sports-minded editor would go a long way toward appeasing us fans who actually know how high school sports are supposed to work.

Shockingly, Rachel said she doesn’t know much about sports.

This is from the “About” tab:

With sharp, contemporary storylines and concise artwork, “Gil Thorp” provides an important link between high school athletics and contemporary social issues, taking readers to the classrooms and playing fields of Milford High School…

I haven’t seen very sharp storylines or concise artwork, or even believable high school athletics. Plenty of social issues though.

So, my time spent as a Track and Field starter is finally going to pay off!

It looks like they might actually be running a 400 (not a 4×100 relay) since there are no batons and multiple runners on the starting line. Speaking of the starting line, Keri has both hands on or past the line (hands have to be behind the line) and she’s in the lane next to her, all of which are enough to get her DQ’d. Finally, you alternate the runners. Milford would be in lanes 1 and 3 and the other team in 2 and 4.

Looks like we have infractions on both the writer and illustrator.

Even if it was the largest goal line in history, the ball didn’t cross it…

Not to mention the differences, physically, between a freshman and a senior are often as big as they are between a boy and a ….. nevermind. Hey Tobe!

For the record, I NEVER thought Henry could make it through an inning without absurdity.

So whatever happened with basketball??? Milford made a last-second shot to increase the lead (but went down in points) against their rival. No playdowns, or was that the state championship game and we missed all of the postseason? (It’s hard to imagine the team wasn’t good enough to make the playdowns with a future pro and the supporting cast they had.)

On March 21st Henry had the score listed as 80-79 Milford with one minute left in the game. Either a) Henry has imagined a new sports technique called reverse scoring b) He can’t keep track of the nonsense he is “writing” anymore or c) He is rushing through the “sports” part so he can imagine other new ways of ruining the strip or d) all of the above. What a joke.
