   The thread most likely was stronger back then, but I do like the newer self-threading needles. I can’t see close-up well enough anymore to thread a needle … not even with those little aluminum needle threaders.

   The word “master” in this context always bothers me. Our dogs have always been like little furry children to us … and they have all been treated so much better than many neglected and abused children.

   On an episode of Inside Edition last week, one of the segments was about Tesla owners who are afraid to take their cars out on the road because of the harassment and vandalism against Teslas and their owners. There were videos of damaged cars, and interviews with victimized owners. It’s not a new phenomenon.If you do an online search for something like “inside edition, Tesla vandalism” it will bring up a video from 2021, showing people keying Teslas and slamming grocery carts into them. Also, on that video, a motorcyclist, pulling off a side mirror as he passed by, and a driver purposely aiming for a Tesla on a highway. Apparently, these people didn’t realize that Teslas have cameras on both sides and front and back of the car, recording all these incidents.

   I’m so sorry your girl is gone. I know how much you love your dogs. What you just wrote reminded me of Mykei’s last trip to the vet, Labor Day weekend, 2003. She had stopped eating — even the jars of Gerber mini hot dogs and the La Créme vanilla yogurt that Dr. Gruszka had suggested. It was a fairly cool summer that year. Mykei and I spent most days out on the canopied lawn swing, and the neighborhood kids stopped by to visit with her. I still miss her every day.

    “A World Without Love” was written by Paul McCartney when he was 16, and dating Jane Asher, Peter’s sister. The Beatles never recorded it. John thought it was silly. They offered it to Billy J. Kramer. He turned it down, so it was then offered to Peter and Gordon. It was their first single, and reached the top of the charts.
