I remember one Christmas season there was a guy with a kettle who was playing a violin. I stayed with him for about an hour, singing along. It was fun.

My daughter is currently in a long-distance relationship with a guy she met at college. They keep in touch through social media, texts & phone. It’s really kind of sweet.

I remember my little brother coming to all of my concerts and plays. My parents brought him & he enjoyed it. A memory: I was in a production of “Children’s Hour”. A character had to smash a nicknack on the floor. For some reason the nicknack didn’t break, but bounced off the stage & headed right for my brother! I was on stage so I couldn’t yell “Duck!” Thankfully, it landed just inches in front of him. I was supposed to then pick up the pieces; I pretended to pick up pieces, went down the steps (which were across the entire front of the stage), picked up the nicknack, gave my brother a little tap on the foot, went back onto the stage, and the show went on.

♫ I saw Mommy scr*wing Santa Claus / Then Daddy came in with his M-16 / The bloodshed was far out / ‘til Daddy just flipped out / He started shooting all around until the coppers got him down / Then Mom got carried out with Santa Claus / and Dad got 97 years to life / Wouldn’t it be something if the other kids found out / My old man wasted Santa Claus that night ♫

My husband & I came up with an “adult” version of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”. It’s rated R for adult content & violence. LOL

When I was 16 I was madly in love with a boy named Carl. We dated for about a year. He was a couple of years ahead of me in school. When he graduated he enlisted. We made the adult, mature decision (although it just about killed me) to break up. We made the same deal that Rhetta suggested. Needless to say, I never saw him again.

I’m 60, have read the series multiple times (and due for a re-read), and have shared the movies with my daughters (with the understanding that they read the series first). I’m not sure if you’re picking on her age or gender…or both.

Christmas cards always remind me of my step-grandfather, Pepere Adrien. My Memere’s 3rd husband, he married her after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. He sent cards for all occasions to her children, their children, THEIR children, and respective spouses. He was the only “true” grandfather I had (1st died a week before my 1st birthday; 2nd when I was about 9) and he lived up to the title. I loved him so much; when he died I cried as much as if he had been my biological grandfather. My younger daughter’s middle name is Adrienne in his honor.

When I was a child, my best friend lived next door, and my room faced her house. My room was on the second floor and I rigged a can-and-string “phone” out my window.

Here in NH, I remember one year we all got to be home for my mother’s birthday because a huge blizzard caused us to be released from school early. Her birthday was in April.
