When I was in school, one day my friends & I were discussing what we were going to do “when we grew up”. My friend J said that she wanted to be a stylist. Another friend said, “Great! You can give [Wren] a haircut.” J said, “I am NOT going to be the one to cut her hair!” Fast forward a few years. I was 20 & decided to cut my hair shorter than I’d worn it in years. I walked into the salon & was seated. Suddenly, behind me I hear a gasp. Yup, J was my stylist! We still joke about that day.

My younger daughter was in a production of Schoolhouse Rock Live. Along with being in the chorus & a dancer, she got to yell, “Hooray! I’m for the other team!” which fits her personality to a T.

I have a client whose last name is Lally…this always goes through my head when dealing with him.

When my older daughter was in middle school, she had a test. One of the questions was about the Preamble. She got it wrong because she wrote it exactly like the Schoolhouse Rock song, which did not include “…of the United States of America…”

During the Blizzard of ’78 we literally had to dig a tunnel so that our miniature Spaniel, Daisy, could “do her business”.

My childhood bedroom was on the 2nd floor, and the brain trust who designed the house put the heating vent in the ceiling. The ceiling stayed nice & toasty warm (I’m assuming) while down in the actual room it was freezing in the winter & super warm in the summer. (For the record, the other upstairs room that was my brothers’, had a floor vent, as did the upstairs bathroom.)

My dad let me try it. It was gross. I tried it again in my 20s. Still gross. 60 now. Beer is STILL gross. LOL

A few years ago I reconnected with a friend from 1st grade. It was 50 years – almost to the day – since I had last seen her. We talked for hours & are still talking every chance we get.

I’d gotten my dad a beer a number of times when I was Hammie’s age. What’s the big deal?

Same here except I’ve never dyed my hair, and I do get the occasional trim (to get rid of split ends).
