I am the token gringo in my wife’s Puerto Rican family. One of the grandchildren told me to my face I didn’t know what I was talking about by saying that wearing a mask should be a personal choice, especially if you know you are not infected. We old people are stupid, and they are much smarter when it comes to “science”. She has a high school diploma, and I am a degreed electrical engineer.
There are only three (3) races: Caucasian (Whites), Negroid (Blacks), and Mongoloids (Asians). The word “mongoloid” is misused to describe people with Down’s Syndrome because of the look of their eyes. Everything else can be described as different cultures. I am from Texas, and called a “Gringo”, and married to a Puerto Rican. Sometimes I could say they discriminate against me as they have a tendency to revert to speaking Spanish, but I do not get “butt-hurt” when it happens. I am too old to easily learn Spanish (71), no matter what those “learn a new language in 4 weeks” people say. But I have never worn any “victim” attitude on my shoulder and daring someone else to try to knock it off. It would be nice to see all Latino/a people have this attitude. But our government indoctrination centers have had years to brainwash or children to have different attitudes.
Not adding context to panels in this comic just perpetuates false ideas about deporting US citizens. What about the internment of Japanese descent American citizens in WWII? Seems a Democrat president (FDR) oversaw these two incidents.
I am saddened by the constant representation as the husband/father in families in cartoon strips, TV programs and much of media as the bad guy. It has been my experience that when the children reach their teens, the mother often looks to leaving their husband of 20+ years for the “bad boy”. Baldo’s father continuing to raise his family after his wife’s death is admirable. But the wife leaving is more prevalent than the wife dies. Thanks for listening to this gringo who really like your cartoon strips.
