Kennedy ruined the space programme,don’t get me wrong I’m 100% behind the space programme,it actually paid for itself with the spinoff technology,the very technology these idiot naysayers use to put it down.While I understand the politics of Kennedy’s decision it stiil ruined the programme
by devoting everything to a one off goal rather than incremental steps.The X plane programme was sub orbital in the early 60’s and if they had just keep moving that way in small steps we would probably be living on the moon now.I think it’s kind of like the Wright bros say OK now we can fly lets make the next step a 747 with out anything in between.We need pure science for sciences sake with out first knowing what the result will be or how much profit can be had,that’s for further down the line.
