Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and bin Laden and Saddam Hussein loathed each other. If we had stayed focused on bin Laden we might have captured him at Tora Bora.

Because this is the Spanish version of Calvin and Hobbes, that’s why. You need to click the English page. Reruns are offered in both languages.

    I love reading them both.

When I visited a pandería two months ago it was part of a shop that had produce as well, plus tables where you could sit and eat and drink. For all I know this is happening just a few miles from my house.

“Whom” for direct objects and object of prepositions, please. I know it is disappearing but it is a meaningful inflection and communication is muddier when we use “who” for everything. (Yes, I’m a old curmudgeon, and proud of it.)

I went fishing with my parents and hated it. I don’t like fishing in the least. But, fortunately, I was allowed to climb around in the nearby hills and enjoy nature. I liked camping; just hated fishing.

I do wish folks who affect archaic speech patterns would do so grammatically. “Why dost thou no longer wish to date?” All the misplaced -eths are annoying. (Yes, I know, I’m being picky but for some us, raised on Shakespeare and the KJV, these forms follow meaningful patterns.)

While I encounter the Spirit everywhere, that also includes being in community where we support each other in our journeys. I also have faith that whatever surprises greet us on the other side, they are gracious.

Because enrollment = tuition = income. They wouldn’t want to scare potential “students” off with challenges. Warm bodies with parental checks are all that matters.

The Supreme Court did not say her decision was wrong. The Appeals Court followed the established precedent and the Supreme Court changed that position. They did not criticize the Appeals Court for deciding as they did or say that Sotomayor was wrong. Sotomayor was being the conservative non-activist in that situation and the Supreme Court were the ones who decided to redefine the situation, making them the judicial “activists.” Details, I know, but important ones.

    You go, Gracie!
