Sorry, I thought the word “last” before “name” was understood from the nature of the comic strip. As in “Changing one’s birth last name requires very specific circumstances…”. And transgender is a very specific circumstance. So everything else in my comment was still true.
Pig is likable, but he is unmotivated and has accomplished little in life. But that says more about his mother than about him. And the fact that his mother doesn’t like him explains a lot. A child becomes the product of his upbringing. Yes, people can become something greater (or occasionally worse) despite their upbringing, but those are the exceptions, not the rule.
Changing one’s birth name requires very specific circumstances (usually involving either a marriage or a divorce of the mother and father listed on the birth certificate, or the addition of the father who was not previously listed at all), and is almost impossible once one has reached adulthood. It can’t be done on a whim as implied above.
Now, if she has never married, and she legally changes her name, the new name would still be her “maiden” name, but it would not change her birth name.
Hating to bathe? Yes, I can see why that would make one a horrible spouse. :D
