   In a lawsuit-rich environment, it’s plausible – maybe even likely – that some schools have firm policies that make anywhere that is being mopped or cleaned “off limits”.

   I heard someone say today that people don’t support him for what he will do FOR them; they support him for what he will do TO whoever they don’t like. I don’t know how true that is, but it makes as much sense to me as any other theory.

   Early voting started today in NC, and almost everyone in the line with me was of retirement age (I’m only 57). I sincerely hope that many of them feel as you lovely commenters do about the situation, because I am terrified for myself and even more so for my kids and grands.

   My chem teacher taught us to make sulfur dioxide and ethyl mercaptan. He did not tell us what they would smell like* before we made them. Bit of a practical jokester streak in that one. (*rotting eggs and eau de skunk, respectively)

   My grandparents’ house had one that led to the backyard. I loved it. When my mom inherited the house, she had it taken out and replaced with a modern door and screen. She’s more practical than sentimental. It made me a little sad, but it made sense to make the house easier/ cheaper to heat and cool (the gap between the two halves had grown over time).

   Both of my grandminions are in year-round schools, where they are in school for five weeks and then off for two all year. These schools have been gaining in popularity since I was in high school (long long ago) and I’m a big fan, both as a Gamma and as an educator.

   I don’t like it by itself but it’s a perfectly fine vehicle for peanut butter, cream cheese, or hummus.
