   Probably not Frazier. I saw the show at the time, and he was sortakinda dogpaddling and floundering around. Apparently, Frazier didn’t know how to swim in the first place, and either thought it was easier than it looked or was too embarrassed to say anything about it.

   There’s the famous quote from boxer Joe Frazier from one of the ABC Superstars competitions (for those non-boomers out there, it pitted athletes from numerous sports against one another in events outside their specialties).    Generations. Leaving aside that we’re talking the third generation after 1950, college sport has been big business since the 1920s, when college football in particular was a great deal more prestigious than the pro game. No, athletic scholarships were a giggle a hundred years ago, but I don’t see the relevance of your point. You’re arguing that it was better when athletes got nothing at all, rather than at least a scholarship? Ummm … that’s a pretty contradictory twist.
