The Ezekiel passage is from the New International version. The classic King James is a little more subdued:
“For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.”

But there was the collected trade paperback from Marvel – or am I misremembering and Marvel did a Last Kiss-esque series?

Actually, Frank Cho IS pretty well known. He’s done major work for Marvel Comics, including covers for “The Amazing Spider-Man”

Hang in there, Corey. There’s a classic Peanuts strip rerun in Newsday today. The whiners would do well to read it.
Charlie Brown: We’re all out of dog food. How about a little bread and milk.
[Snoopy atop his doghouse gets mad]
CB: Getting mad won’t help
[Snoopy atop his doghouse starts crying]
CB: Neither will crying.
Snoopy (thinking): Okay, bring on the bread and milk.
Feel better. While I do hope Barkeater Lake ends with some closure, I’ve lived through Liberty Meadows just shuffling off without it. Life goes on, and I mostly just wish that you will get your deserved break and be able to make a good living as a cartoonist. Feel better soon, and enjoy NYC.

And y’know … Delores needs and wants to find that special someone, and who else has always been there for her and been the smartest, classiest guy around? Banks, that’s who. Just sayin’, if you want a happy ending.
Hey, it’s not that risque or weird. Marvel Comics got Howard the Duck and Beverly together as a couple back in the ’70s. I never got over my astonishment at how they somehow managed to show Howard slipping out of bed with Beverly in it …
Maybe that was the black-and-white-magazine version, aimed at an older audience than the color comic. But STILL…!

Ah, crap. Oh, well – all good things come to an end. I’ve got your first book (thanks for the Banks sketch!) and am looking forward to getting the second. I loved the Barkeater Lake citizens and I love your sense of humor. Please reveal some solid tidbit about the apparently immortal (or maybe just reallllly long-lived) Banks a.k.a. Scraps before you go!
Your fans understand and respect your decision, Corey, no matter how much it disappoints and saddens. Calvin and Hobbes ended, Liberty Meadows ended, Peanuts ended (granted, long after it should have) and now Barkeater Lake. Thank goodness for TOBY, et al. May we someday see a reunion book!

Well, then, I guess funniesfan will never know he’s an bleeep for making unconstructive comments.
Disagree with Miny Boy. I loved this strip and found it funny and inventive with highly expressive art. I urge its creators to please bring it back if they can afford to do so.
