See, this is why I refer to Frazz strips as “Official Derp Magnets.” For anyone interested in the historical basis of Thanksgiving:

frazz, where smugness rules the land.

Ah, Frazz, where there’s never any conflict at all and everything goes as merrily as planned.

@hactoo, @DickBently You’re right, to a Brit or Canuck, it sounds like we’re just shouting everybody down. I think the real reason everyone got so het up was because Caulfield basically said that our independence wasn’t worth fighting for. Then everyone scrambles over everyone else to bring out facts and lists of why it was worth it to fight. I think we have good reason to feel patriotic that we DID fight for our freedom, and gained it. The alternative would have been worse, as is proved by history.

Don’t celebrate a war just because it “turns out all right.” All wars “turn out all right” eventually, as memories fade. Celebrate the Revolution for what we got out of it: freedom. Don’t celebrate food poisoning for what you get out of it: a night with the vomit bucket.

Apparently accidentally getting food poisoning is a direct analogy to choosing to fight a war for freedom.

I think this is is last day I read Frazz.

This strip isn’t funny though. Mallet is trying to lecture us on celebrating the beginning of a war. Usually I don’t mind Caulfield’s supercilious rants, but this is condescending to any American. I’ll be celebrating my independence today, thanks very much, no matter what snotty iconoclasts tell me to do.

Wiley Miller, ladies and gentlemen: such a jackass that even the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier isn’t beyond his grasp.

Usually I like Miller’s sarcasm, but today makes me angry. I know he’s probably not meaning to call our soldiers boneheads, but it’s not too much of a stretch either.

Should’ve left this one in the drawer, Wiley.
